To implement the guiding principles of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC), respond to the Notice of the Ministry of Education on Issuing the Work Plan for Strengthening the Development of the Higher Education Talent Training System for Carbon Peak and Carbon Neutrality (Jiao Gao Han [2022] No. 3), and promote the development of green and low-carbon new productive forces of high quality, Xi'an University of Architecture and Technology (XAUAT) has been deeply advancing the strategic talent training program for carbon peak and carbon neutrality.
On the morning of December 21, 2024, Professor LI Angui, a Level-2 Professor, doctoral supervisor, and Dean of the School of Building Services Science and Engineering at XAUAT, delivered a themed report entitled Brief Analysis of Hazardous Substances and Ventilation Technology in Underground Spaces via Tencent Meeting.
The report focused on China's urban underground spaces, the largest such system in the world, presented their diverse application scenarios, and outlined two core tasks for underground space environmental assurance:
· Low-Carbon Environment Creation: Building a healthy and comfortable underground environment with low-carbon technologies.
· Safety Guarantee: Efficiently removing hazardous substances in disaster-stricken environments to guarantee life safety.
Professor LI analyzed the main hazardous substances in underground spaces and the dust pollution hazards during the construction of tunnels and underground caverns, and presented the current state and future development trends of underground tunnel construction in China.
The report also conducted an in-depth analysis of the two core tasks for full-life-cycle environmental assurance of underground spaces, with a special focus on how to apply advanced ventilation technology to ensure environmental safety.
In addition, the report reviewed the history of the development and utilization of underground spaces, and analyzed the environmental characteristics and airborne microbial characteristics of modern underground utility tunnels.
This report aims to cultivate carbon neutrality professionals with an international perspective, jointly promote the innovation of carbon neutrality technologies, and contribute wisdom and strength to attaining the national carbon peak and carbon neutrality goals.
