Research

The International Joint Laboratory on Low Carbon Built Environment was approved for establishment by the Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China in 2023. With Xi'an University of Architecture and Technology as the leading institution, it is jointly founded with internationally renowned academic institutions such as Umeå University in Sweden and Aalto University in Finland, all of which enjoy internationally recognized expertise and reputation in the fields of underground space environment, low-carbon built environment and building energy technology.

Professor Li Angui, the leading professor of National Huang Danian-style Team in Underground Space Environment by the Ministry of Education of China, is the Director of the Joint Laboratory, who has received 2 National Technology Invention Awards of China as the first completer and the WSSET Innovation Award.

The Joint Laboratory team has successfully hosted many important international academic conferences for multiple times, including ROOMVENT, ISHVAC, EU-Asian Link Series Seminars, etc. Professor Li was the chairs of these conferences. The conferences have constructed an important international cooperation platform for scientific research, technological development, talent cultivation and academic exchanges in the fields of built environment and underground space environment. The Joint Laboratory follows the operation mechanism of "Openness, Mobility, Collaboration and Competition", and is committed to building a high-level, international laboratory featuring research on underground space environments.
